Lift your Mustang with either a jack and jackstands or with a lift. Place a bucket or drain pan under your rear end, and loosen and remove all but the top cover bolts. Using a flat head screwdriver, pry the cover open and allow the fluid to drain into the drain pan. Once the oil has slowed to a drip, loosen and remove the top bolt, remove the cover and set aside.
The '65/'66 8" and 9" rear ends had a fill plug in the back of the housing, and none in the differential case. Starting in '67, the fill plug was moved to the case, and not one in the housing.
